The Toyota Cross GR has an available all-wheel drive system with a rear electric motor that provides more traction and stability on different terrains, a lowered suspension with a revised tune and extra underbody bracing that control body roll and improve ride comfort, and a choice of three drive modes: EV, Eco, and Power, that affect the performance, fuel economy, and driving feel of the car. However, the Toyota Cross GR Sport is not a hardcore off-roader like the Toyota Land Cruiser or the Toyota Hilux GR Sport. It does not have features such as a limited-slip differential, Active Traction Control, Multi-Terrain Select, or a rear-seat entertainment system. It is more suited for urban driving and light off-road adventures.

The Toyota Cross GR has advanced driver-assistance technologies that help prevent or mitigate collisions and enhance driving comfort and convenience. It includes features such as Active Cruise Control, which adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, Pre-Collision System, which alerts the driver and applies the brakes if a collision is imminent, and Intersection Support, which detects oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning left and intervenes if necessary. The Toyota Cross GR Safety Sense aims to partner with the driver to promote safe and enjoyable driving.
